During the late 17th century, they began using cotton to process and make socks.

The Pattern

Picture
In the 20th century, closer to today, the vast majority of socks were made in one pattern, Argyle. Later on socks surfaced that were more plain and solid colored.

The Difference

Today socks come in a myriad of styles, patterns, colors, fabrics, and even lengths. We not even have socks that fit the feet like gloves, with each toe having a specific little cubby. The photo on the left shows toe socks, socks with stripes, socks with different colored toes and so much more interesting patterns.
